She led the conference and ranks 19th in NCAA Division II with a .557 field goal percentage. Lily Buggs finished tied for fifth in the CCAA in scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg) en route to being named the CCAA Freshman of the Year honors. The Long Beach native scored 20 or more points in five games, including a CCAA season-best 34 points against Cal State San Bernardino. In that same contest, Buggs also had 19 rebounds and four steals and was later named the CCAA Player of the Week (Jan. 17-23). Renee Jimenez earned her second consecutive CCAA Coach of the Year award after leading Cal State San Marcos to a 21-2 record (19-1 CCAA) and the 2021-22 CCAA regular-season title. The Cougars finished the season as the CCAA's top-scoring team (74.4 ppg) and second-best defensive team (59.3 ppg). They will enter the postseason with a 17-game winning streak and as the top seed in the CCAA Tournament. This is the third career CCAA Coach of the Year honor for Jimenez. She also earned the award while at Cal State Monterey Bay in 2010-11.
