Otter's Cassie Gasper wins first CCAA Pitcher of the Week award of 2022 Feb 7, 2022 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> After an incredible showing by the Cal State Monterey Bay pitching staff at the Concordia Kickoff Classic, Cassie Gasper has been named the CCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6. Gasper led an Otters’ pitching staff that yielded only two unearned runs in 32.2 innings. She went 2-1 with a 0.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 18 innings en route to the first CCAA Pitcher of the Week award for the 2022 season. Gasper allowed six hits and three walks to post a 0.50 WHIP, and opponents hit just .098 against her. The Merced native (El Capitan HS) began her junior season with a two-hit shutout of Azusa Pacific. She also picked up the win against Montana State Billings. The Otters went 4-1 at the Concordia Kickoff Classic. They lead the CCAA in ERA (0.00) and batting average against (.121). Cal State Monterey Bay will now gear up for a doubleheader on the road this Saturday (Feb. 12) against the 2021 NCAA national runners-up, Biola.
