Sonoma State's Alex Boyle raced to Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Sonoma State’s Alex Boyle picked up the outdoor season’s first CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Seawolves at the Cal State East Bay Dual Meet.

Boyle clocked 4:55.32 in the 1,500-meter run to place second before the freshman from Oceanside helped the Sonoma State relay team to a win in the 4x400-meter relays.

The relay team of Boyle, Roxanne Foltz, Sydney Lopes and Sophie Rodriguez posted a 4:22.00 time for the victory. The winning time was almost 20 seconds faster than the next team.

Boyle was making her track and field debut after a successful cross country season in the fall. Boyle’s West Region time of 22:54.8 in the 6,000-meter race was a program best since 2001.

The Sonoma State women’s track team will participant at the Kim Duyst Invitational, March 4-5, at Stanislaus State.
