Larsen repeats as CCAA Pitcher of the Week Feb 21, 2022 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> For the second straight week, Chico State’s Brooke Larsen has been named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 14-20). Larsen delivered not once but twice against Cal State Monterey Bay, tossing back-to-back shutouts against the No. 12 Otters and accounting for both victories in the Wildcats’ conference-opening series split in Seaside. Larsen scattered eight hits and struck out 13 in her 13 shutout innings. Only 12 Otters reached base with Larsen in the pitcher’s circle, as she held Monterey Bay hitters to a combined .178 batting average. In Friday’s series opener, Larsen outdueled Otters’ righthander Cassie Gasper in a 2-0 Wildcats’ win (Larsen also went 2-for-2 at the plate). She followed up Saturday with another four-hit whitewash of Monterey Bay, with Chico State coming away with an 8-0 victory. Larsen currently leads all CCAA hurlers in wins (7), shutouts (4), complete games (8), innings pitched (54), and strikeouts (78). The No. 19 ranked Wildcats are 10-4 on the season and 2-2 in CCAA play. This weekend, they will be home to face Cal State San Bernardino (6-5, 2-2 CCAA) in a four-game set.
