Impressive weekend nets SF State's Brylynn Vallejos CCAA Player of the Week honors

San Francisco State’s Brylynn Vallejos hit .769 in a four-game set against Sonoma State to lead the Gators to a 3-1 start in CCAA play. 

The outfielder went 10-for-13 with nine runs, an RBI, a walk, and was 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. For the series, Vallejos slashed .769/.786/1.154. She also had seven putouts, including a catch on the run to end Friday's doubleheader. 

Vallejos went 7-for-8 with a double, a triple, five runs scored, and three stolen bases in that same doubleheader. Her only blemish of the day was when she reached on an error. 

For the series, Vallejos reached base in each of her first 13 plate appearances and scored at least two runs in every game. Sonoma State did not record an out against her until the third inning of the series finale. 

The sophomore is now second in the CCAA in batting average (.511), and is first in doubles (9), runs scored (18) adn stolen bases (14). 

The three victories helped San Francisco State improve to 8-6 on the season (3-1 CCAA). The Gators will host Cal State Monterey Bay (8-3, 2-2 CCAA) in a four-game set starting Friday, Feb. 25. 

The Gators have won the last two CCAA Player of the Week awards as Vallejos’ selection comes on the heels of Kai Deleon’s win from last week. Student-athletes from SF State have won two of the season's first three weekends.
