Chico State’s Brooke Larsen was dealing all weekend as the senior led the Wildcats to three victories at the Desert Stinger Invitational while claiming CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors in the process (Feb. 7-13).

Chico’s ace posted three complete-game victories - including two eight-inning efforts - and struck out 46 batters in 23 innings. She allowed just 14 hits and four walks in that span, with opponents posting a .173 batting average against.

Friday, Larsen allowed just two earned runs and fanned 14 as Chico State topped Central Washington 6-5 in eight innings. On Saturday, against Saint Martin’s, she again went the distance, striking out another 14 batters in the Wildcats’ 4-2 win over the Saints. Larsen closed out the Desert Stinger Tournament Sunday by striking out a career-high 18 hitters as Chico State edged Montana State Billings 5-4.

Larsen, who set new Desert Stinger Tournament single game and total strikeout records, earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors and was an All-Tournament Team selection.

Larsen is now 5-1 on the year and leads the CCAA with 65 strikeouts. She is second in wins and innings pitched (41.0).

The Wildcats won four of five in Arizona and improved to 8-2 on the season. Chico State will open CCAA play this Friday in a doubleheader at Cal State Monterey Bay.
