ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Kaelah Basurto picked a perfect time for her first career goal as she scored in the 68th minute to send the No. 3 seed Cal State LA to the finals of the 2022 CCAA Women's Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win over No. 2 Stanislaus State.

The Golden Eagles controlled much of the game but could not find the net until Basurto stepped up with the game-winner. She took a pass from Melody Landphear on the left side of the pitch and saw a small opening to the middle. She quickly seized on the opportunity, cutting to the inside and firing a shot from 30 yards out. The well-struck shot was perfectly placed into the top corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Over the final 22 minutes Stanislaus State tried to press forward to find the equalizer, but Cal State LA's defense thwarted every opportunity. The Golden Eagles' offense also held possession for long stretches, limiting the scoring chances for the Warriors.

The Warriors' Alexia Estrada made eight saves in the loss. The Golden Eagles' keeper Areli Reyes had just one save as her team outshot Stanislaus State 17-6.

Cal State LA will face the No. 1 seed Sonoma State in the finals on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m.
