For the second consecutive season, Stanislaus State's Darren Holman has been named the CCAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
Holman led the Warriors to their second consecutive CCAA Championship, becoming the first team other than Chico State to win back-to-back conference titles since UC Davis (1998-201). Stanislaus State posted 39 points at the CCAA Championships as its first four runners finished in the top 10.
Kaela Dishion collected her second straight CCAA Runner of the Year award after winning the CCAA individual title on the Palo Corona Cross Country Course. Dishion earned three CCAA Runner of the Week honors this year and was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week (Sept. 12).
Dishion was not the only award winner Holman coaches this season. He helped guide Najwa Chouati to CCAA Newcomer of the Year honors and Kayden Legan and Yahaira Zuniga to All-CCAA performances.
After starting the season as the No. 2 team in the region, the Warriors won two of their first three races to move into the No. 1 spot in the region, and they have remained there all season. Stanislaus State also garnered national attention from the USTFCCAA voters. They were ranked in the top 12 all season and climbed as high as No. 7.
The 2022 season will continue for coach Darren Holman and the Warriors at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Billings, Mont.
