Monoszlay, Massengale Earn Weekly Acclaim

Cal Poly Pomona’s Casey Monoszlay and Courtney Massengale of San Francisco State have nabbed CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week for April 8-14, respectively.

Monoszlay, a senior from Chino Hills, earned her third NCAA provisional mark of the season, this time in the 800 meters. Already notching a provisional time in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters, Monoszlay jumped to the top of the CCAA performance list at the Triton Invitational, crossing the line in 2:10.48 to take sixth overall as the top NCAA Division II finisher.

Massengale, a senior from Yuba City, dazzled once again as she turned in three podium finishes as well as three provisional qualifiers at the Woody Wilson Classic. She threw a personal-best 14.50 meters in the shot put to take first in the field of 20. In discus, she threw the sixth-best distance in the country with a 51.89 meter mark to earn another first-place finish, and followed with a 42.66 meter hurl in the javelin to take second.

San Francisco State is slated to compete across the Southland in five meets, including the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational, and the Broncos will also be at both as well as the Steve Scott Invitational.
