Women's Track and Field Feb 26, 2019 Droughn, Lowther Named CCAA Track & Field Athlete of the Week With provisional qualifying marks secured, Cal State LA’s Valexsia Droughn and Breanna Lowther of Stanislaus State have earned CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 18-24, respectively. Droughn, a sophomore from Oxnard, recorded fast times in the Golden Eagles’ first outdoor meet of the season. She posted the team’s first provisional qualifying mark in 2019, running the 100 meters in 11.80 seconds to earn the win at the Rossi Relays. Droughn also helped her team to second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.05 seconds and a third-place finish in the 4x400 as the foursome finished in 3:59.51. Lowther, a senior from Hillister, won two events and scored 22 team points at the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Invitational. She posted a personal best in the discus with a throw of 45.24 meters (148 feet, 5 inches) to notch a provisional qualifier mark and land in first place. She also won the hammer throw in 51.46 meters (168-10) before a 7th place finish in the shot put. Both squads are back in action March 1-2 as both squads play host. The Warriors will put on the Kim Duyst Invitational in Turlock, while the Golden Eagles host the Cal State LA Invitational.
