STOCKTON, Calif. - Round 2 of the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf West/South Central Regional, powered by Visit Stockton and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), took place Friday at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

The 20 teams are competing for six spots in the NCAA Division II Championship on May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas. Additionally, two individual spots will be awarded to the highest-finishing players whose teams do not advance to the national championship.

Individually, it is Western Washington’s Conrad Brown who leads at 8-under (136) after firing a second-round 66 (-6), tying for the low round of the tournament. The junior from Burlington, Wash., holds a one-shot lead heading into Saturday’s final round.

“It was a really fun morning,” Brown said following his round.

Right behind him is a three-way tie for second at 7-under. Cal State San Bernardino’s Kamron Hopson was the first player to reach the mark after carding a 66 (-6), also tying for the low round of the tournament. The junior from Redlands, Calif., made a big move up the leaderboard after opening with a 1-under 71 on Thursday.

“I stuck to my process today,” Hopson said. “I’m glad I got a few more putts to drop today.”

First-round leader Liam Weaver of Cal State San Marcos also sits at 7-under after following his opening-round 66 with a 1-under 71. The redshirt freshman currently occupies one of the two individual qualifying spots.

The final player in the tie for second is Colorado Christian junior Bradley Mulder. The 2025 NCAA Division II individual runner-up fired a 67 (-5) on Friday to move to 7-under for the tournament. Mulder currently holds the second individual qualifying position.

“I only missed three greens and two of them were on the two hardest holes on the course,” Mulder said. “I did a great job executing the par 5s today.”

On the team side, Western Washington and West Texas A&M are tied for the lead at 11-under. Paired together for the second consecutive round, both teams took advantage of calm morning conditions to post strong rounds on Friday.

After opening with a 5-under round on Thursday, Western Washington followed it up with a 6-under 282. The Vikings, led by coach Luke Bennett, are hoping to return to the NCAA Finals for the first time since 2019.

“I had a couple guys play amazing rounds today,” Bennett said. “Golf is a team game and it’s nice to see them step up today.”

West Texas A&M backed up its opening-round 4-under score with a 7-under round on Friday. The Buffaloes, led by Axel Ochoa, are aiming for their third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Finals.

“We just have to continue with our aggressive mindset tomorrow,” Ochoa said. “That’s been the motto all week.”

Cal State San Bernardino sits one shot back in third place after a second-round 8-under 280 propelled the Coyotes up the leaderboard. The program is looking for its second straight trip to the NCAA Finals.

Two shots behind the Coyotes are the Chico State Wildcats. After shooting a 5-over 293 in the opening round, Chico State bounced back with a tournament-best 13-under 275 on Friday, an 18-shot improvement from round one. The Wildcats, led by former player Nick Green, are seeking their first NCAA Finals appearance since 2023 and will enter the final round in fourth place.

“You’re shortchanging yourself if you’re not out here trying to win,” Green said. “That’s been our M.O. all season.”

The final two teams currently holding qualifying spots are Cameron University and Cal State East Bay, who are both tied at 1-under for the tournament.

Saturday’s final round pairings will be determined by team score, with teams placed 18-20 teeing off at 7:30 a.m. and the top three teams beginning play at 12:40 p.m. Fans can follow the action on SCOREBOARD - NCAA DII West/South Central Regional (Men) Player Leaderboard
