SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Chico State claimed its second consecutive CCAA Men's Track & Field Championship presented by Pollo Campero by earning 263 points over the three-day event.
The Wildcats earned an impressive 22 medals at the Championships, coming away with eight golds, five silvers, and nine bronzes, doubling up their closest competitor.

Brody Staley was voted CCAA Track Athlete of the Meet and earned the High Point Award after setting school records in the 200m and 400m. He registered a time of 20.93 in the 200m, moving into the top 25 on the NCAA Performance List. He earned another NCAA Provisional Standard in the 400m, moving up to 12th in the country, with a time of 46.56. Staley also helped Chico collect points in both relay events, placing fifth in the 4x100m and second in the 4x400m.
CCAA Field Athlete of the Meet honors went to Cal Poly Humboldt's
Michael Payan, who moved to No. 3 in CCAA Championship history by clearing 17-0.75 (5.20m) in the pole vault. Payan did not even start jumping until most of the field was gone. He cleared 16-3.75 on his first attempt and was the only person remaining in the field after that jump. The bar was then raised nine inches, and he cleared it again on his first attempt to win the pole vault title for the second consecutive year.
Cal State LA's Wallace Aflamah was named CCAA Newcomer of the Year. He won the 100m with a stadium record time of 10.46, edging out his teammate Drew Hill by 0.02 seconds. Both times broke the facility record. He also placed fourth in the 200m with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.01.
Stanislaus State's
Andrew Bishop earned points in four events (14.25 total) and was selected as the Freshman of the Year. He helped the Stanislaus State win gold in the 4x100m relay with an NCAA provisional time of 40.45. Bishop would also place second in the 800m with another NCAA provisional time (20.98) before adding a sixth-place finish in the 100m (10.65) and a 4x400m relay.
Coach of the Year honors went to Chico State's
Oliver Hanf for leading Chico State to its second consecutive CCAA Championship and eighth under his guidance.
