15 gain entry to the 2026 NCAA Men's Track & Field Championships

The 2026 Track & Field season will continue for 12 CCAA student-athletes and one relay team later this week at the NCAA Championships in Emporia, Kansas (May 21-23).  
 
Chico State led the conference with six entries, including its 4x40m relay team. Cal State LA had four entries, Cal Poly Pomona three, and Cal Poly Humboldt one to round out the list of CCAA qualifiers.
 
Chico State excelled in the mid-distance and distance races again this season, and it was rewarded with five entries, including the relay team. Junior Damian Garcia was one of just three CCAA student-athletes to earn multiple entries. He is the top seed in the men's 1500m after running the second-fastest time in NCAA Division II history with a mark of 3:35.61 at a Last Chance Meet. He is also 11th in the 800m with a time of 1:48.20.
 
Brody Staley also earned entry into multiple events. He will compete as the 18th seed in the 400m after posting a time of 46.56. Brody is also a member of the 4x400m relay team along with Logan Cole, Harrison Hubbard, and Trey Suffredini. They posted a time of 3:08.92 at the Franson Last Chance Meet and will be the 11th seed. The Wildcats will be represented in the 10k by Mario Giannini, who is the seventh seed with a time of 29:04.56.
 
Cal Poly Pomona will also be represented in the 10k as Ricardo Vargas earned entry as the No. 17 seed with a time of 29:34.73. The other representatives for CPP will be in the field events. Collin Joyce will be looking to repeat as an All-American in the triple jump. After placing fifth last season, Joyce enters the championships seeded sixth with a mark of 15.54m. High jumper Harry Chen got into the championships as the final entry after clearing 2.09m.
 
Cal State LA will be well-represented in the sprint events, with four national qualifiers. Drew Hill will compete for the Golden Eagles in the 100m and the 200m races. Hill earned the No. 15 seed in the 100m (10.27) and the No. 20 seed in the 200m (20.87). He is one of eight to receive an entry into both races. Wallace Alfamah will join Hill in the 100m. Alfamah is the No. 21 seed with a time of 10.30. Nicholas Aninze is the No. 8 seed in the 400m hurdles (51.18).
 
Cal Poly Humboldt's Michael Payan will be looking to earn his second All-American honor. Last season, he placed fifth in the pole vault as a freshman and this year he is the sixth seed going into the championships with a height of 5.35m. At the 2025 championships, he cleared 5.32m to take fifth place.
 
The NCAA Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships will be held May 21-23 at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan. To follow along with live results, click here
