Cal State San Bernardino advances at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Cal State San Bernardino is one of eight teams to advance to medal match play at the NCAA Championships. (May 20)
 
CSUSB finished seventh with a 10-under 854 on the Boulder Creek Golf Course. The Coyotes followed up their 12-under round 2 score of 276 by shooting a 285 (-3) in the final round.
 
Each stroke, especially during the final round, was critical as it came down to four teams battling it out for two spots to advance. Four teams would finish within two strokes of the cutline at 9-under (853), with CSUSB placing at the top of this pack.
 
Tyler Price led Cal State San Bernardino, finishing tied for 18th with a 5-under 211. He had back-to-back 69's (-3) before registering a 73 (+1) in the final round.
 
Kamron Hopson and Marco Lin tied for 23rd at minus-4 (212). Lin shot under par in all three of his rounds, with his low coming in the second (70, -2). Hopson also had a fantastic second round, firing a team-best 66 (-6). He opened with a double bogey before proceeding to shoot nothing higher than par the next 17 holes.
 
Aaron Parayno would come through with the team's lowest score of the day, a 70 (-2), to secure CSUSB's spot in tomorrow's medal match play.
 
The CCAA was also represented by Cal State San Marcos, which finished 15th, and Cal State East Bay, which tied for 16th.
 
CSUSB will face Missouri-St. Louis in match medal play on Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 a.m.
