Cal Poly Pomona's Anthony Vasquez has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) West Region Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 30-April 5.
 
Vasquez delivered one of the Broncos' most complete pitching performances of the season, tossing a nine-inning complete game shutout while allowing just three hits and no walks against No. 10 nationally ranked Cal State Monterey Bay offense. The right-hander kept the Otters off balance all afternoon, striking out four while inducing 16 groundouts and facing just 31 batters (four above the minimum). After allowing a hit to the leadoff man in the first, Vasquez retired the next 23 consecutive batters before surrendering his second hit with two outs in the eighth. 
 
Vasquez (2-0) now leads the CCAA with a 2.37 earned run average and a 1.03 WHIP.
