Matthew Leyva becomes the fifth Broncos’ pitcher to earn FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors in 2026

Cal Poly Pomona’s Matthew Leyva has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Apr. 20-26. 

Leyva put together six dominant innings against Westmont, earning his third win of the season and securing the series for the Broncos. He struck out a season-high eight batters while yielding just one run and one walk. After allowing a single in the first, he retired the next nine batters in a row, including striking out the side in the fourth. 

It was Leyva’s third win of the season. He has thrown 48.1 innings and struck out 37 batters. Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders. 

This is Leyva’s first career CCAA Pitcher of the Week award. He is the fifth different Bronco to earn pitcher of the week honors in 2026. Click here to see the complete list of weekly award winners. 

Cal Poly Pomona is two games out of first place with four games remaining. It will face third-place Cal State San Marcos in a four-game series starting on Friday, May 1. All four games are scheduled to be available on FloCollege. CPP has already clinched a spot in the CCAA Tournament, and can finish anywhere from first to fifth.
