POMONA, Calif. – The No. 4 seed Chico State pulled out a 75-70 overtime win against No. 5 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills in the quarterfinals of the 2026 CCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
The game featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes as neither team could pull away. Chico State held a one-point lead at halftime (32-31) and was up one going into the fourth quarter. The Toros would take back the lead (55-53) midway through the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer by Washington. They would go up four (63-59) with two minutes left.
Madison Parry cut the deficit to two (63-61) with a tough layup 30 seconds later. The Wildcats would then get a stop and a timeout to set up a play. Parry drew the attention of the defense, and she found Sydney Peterson open in the paint for a game-tying layup with 17 seconds remaining. Both teams missed go-ahead shots in the final seconds to send the game to overtime.
In the extra period, the teams traded baskets for the first three minutes. Chico State then got some critical stops on defense before a Parry free throw, and another layup by Peterson put them up three (73-70) with 32 seconds left. Peterson would come through with the big defensive play on the ensuing possession as she stole the ball with 22 seconds remaining. Chico State would knock down two late free throws to seal the win.
Parry registered a double-double with a game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead Chico State. Peterson added 15 points and four assists. Nine different Wildcats scored in the game.
Amaya Washington led Cal State Dominguez Hills with 17 points. Bryanna Lopez-Wood added 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Anela Thomas grabbed 12 rebounds.
Chico State will advance to the semifinals of the CCAA Tournament, where it will face the No. 1 seed, Cal Poly Pomona, on Friday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m. Follow the action at
