Cal State LA is heading to its first CCAA Tournament title game since 2013

POMONA, Calif. - Cal State LA is going to its first CCAA Tournament title game in 13 years after earning an 87-55 win over the No. 2 seed Cal Poly Humboldt in the semifinals of the 2026 CCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Lumberjacks 24-9 in the second quarter, and would outscore them each of the next two quarters to earn the 32-point win.
 
Cal State LA shot .493 percent from the field and held Cal Poly Humboldt to .368 percent shooting, including just .238 percent from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Lumberjacks by 13 (44-31). However, their biggest advantages were forcing Humboldt into 25 turnovers and outscoring it 33-13 in points off turnovers.
 
Nevaeh Asiasi led all scorers with 17 points. She added a team-leading nine rebounds and had four assists. Ariyah Smith also reached double-figures with 14 points. Kyara Walter came off the bench and shot 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range to score 13 points. She helped the Golden Eagles’ bench outscore the Lumberjacks’ bench 34-10.
 
Jordyn Smith recorded a double-double for Humboldt with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Shade Satica also reached double-figures with 15 points.
 
Cal State LA (23-6, 18-4 CCAA) will face the No. 1 seed Cal Poly Pomona for the CCAA Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 7 at 5 p.m.
