Cal State LA’s Cesar Chavez earns FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week

Cal State LA’s Cesar Chavez has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 9-15.

Chavez hit safely in each of the four games against Stanislaus State, including an 8-for-8 performance in Saturday's doubleheader. The junior outfielder went 10-for-15 in the series and also drew three walks and was hit by a pitch. Chavez scored eight runs in the series and drove in four. 

On Saturday, he went 5-for-5 with a walk and three runs scored in the opener before following it up with a 3-for-3, three runs scored outing in the nightcap. Cal State LA won the series 3-1, improving to 5-3 in CCAA play (15-10 overall).

The Walnut, Calif., native is now fifth in the CCAA in batting average (.414) and third in on-base percentage (.526). Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders
