Chico State claims the top spot in the 2026 CCAA Men's Track & Field Preseason Poll

Chico State received eight first-place votes and 98 points to earn the nod as the favorites in the 2026 CCAA Men's Track & Field Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
The Wildcats are coming off a victory in the 2025 CCAA Men's Track & Field Championships, where they won on the final event (4x400m). This was the Wildcats' first championship since 2019, and it broke Cal Poly Pomona's streak of three consecutive championships.
 
Cal Poly Pomona was not far behind, earning two first-place votes and 92 points in the poll. CPP was not listed lower than second on any ballot.
 
Cal State San Marcos finished third in the poll with 77 points, and Stanislaus State is fourth with 71 points.
 
Only four points separated the teams in fifth through seventh. Cal Poly Humboldt was voted fifth with 51 points, Cal State LA placed sixth with 49 points, and Cal State East Bay finished seventh with 47 points.
 
Cal State Monterey Bay (28), San Francisco State (21), and UC Merced (15) round out the preseason poll.
