Feb 25, 2026

Three CCAA men's basketball teams appeared on the first NCAA West Regional rankings of the 2025-26 season. Cal State East Bay holds the top spot, with Cal State Dominguez Hills at No. 4 and Cal State Monterey Bay at No. 7.

Cal State East Bay (26-0) is the last remaining undefeated team in NCAA Div. II. The Pioneers have won their first 26 games of the season and have the chance to be the first team to go undefeated in a 22-game CCAA schedule. Defense has been the calling card for Cal State East Bay this season, ranking 11th in the country in scoring defense (63.7 ppg) and 16th in turnovers forced per game (17.0).

Cal State Dominguez Hills (20-6) played for the national championship last season, and the Toros have set themselves up to return to the dance this year. CSUDH is the highest-ranked team that is not currently leading a conference. It has won four consecutive games and eight of its last nine. The Toros rank third in the West Region in field goal percentage (.482) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.35).

Cal State Monterey (16-0) has put together a 16-10 record and an 11-9 conference mark. The Otters opened the season by winning seven of eight games, including going 5-1 against non-conference, regional opponents. The Otters are the second-highest scoring team in the region with 82.9 points per game. They are also fourth in rebounding margin (+5.5) and third in 3-point percentage (.383). CSUMB currently has the top two scorers in the CCAA in Michael Mora (17.6 ppg) and Jaden Tengen (17.5 ppg).
