Shutout leads Stanislaus State’s Austin Balentine to FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors

For the second time this season, Stanislaus State’s Austin Balentine has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week. (Feb. 23)

Balentine delivered a dominant complete-game shutout in Stanislaus State’s 13-0 win over Western Oregon on Friday night in Turlock. The senior right-hander improved to 4-0, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings while allowing just five hits, no walks, and striking out two on 77 pitches. He did not allow a runner past second base and faced just one over the minimum. With the victory, Balentine now has 19 career wins, tying him for seventh in program history.

He now ranks third in the CCAA in earned run average (0.78), second in WHIP (0.78), and is tied for the league lead with four wins. Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders

Stanislaus State (8-6) will open CCAA play this week at Chico State (9-6). The four-game series will begin on Friday, Feb. 27. All four games are scheduled to be available on FloCollege.
