For the third consecutive week, a CCAA student-athlete has claimed the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) West Region Player of the Week award. This week, the honors went to Cal State San Bernardino's
Dom Dominguez.
The senior catcher went 11-for-20 (.550) in a four-game series against Central Washington. He had a double, two home runs, 12 runs batted in, and scored seven runs.
Dominguez recorded three multi-hit games in the series, including a 5-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in game 2. He singled in the go-ahead run for the Coyotes in the eighth as the team overcame a seven-run deficit (9-2) to win 13-11. The Victorville native finished Saturday’s doubleheader 8-for-8 with 10 RBI. He posted two RBI in the second, third, and fourth innings as CSUSB cruised to a 20-2 win. Dominguez finished 3-for-3 with a double, six RBI, a walk, and two runs scored.
He capped off the weekend with a three-hit, two-RBI game on Sunday. Dominguez is tied for the conference lead with five home runs and leads the CCAA with 22 RBI.
