Overview of the Championships
The largest field in CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament history will begin its pursuit of a championship Sunday, Nov. 1, as seven teams compete in the 2026 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege.
Cal State LA enters as the regular-season champion and No. 1 seed, earning the tournament's lone first-round bye. Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos and Cal State Monterey Bay will host Sunday's opening-round matches, with Menlo, Cal Poly Pomona and UC Merced looking to advance on the road.
The three first-round winners will join the Golden Eagles at Kellogg Stadium on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona in Pomona, Calif., for the semifinals Friday, Nov. 6. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.
A new path to the championship
With the field expanding to seven teams, only the top seed advances directly to the semifinals. The remaining six teams must win Sunday to secure a trip to Pomona.
Cal State LA will face the winner of No. 4 Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 5 Menlo in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. The winners of No. 3 Cal State San Marcos-No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino-No. 7 UC Merced will meet in the second semifinal at 7 p.m.
Recent tournament history
The tournament has crowned three different champions over the past three seasons. Stanislaus State claimed the 2025 title with a 3-0 victory over Cal State San Marcos, following Cal State Dominguez Hills' championship in 2024 and Cal State LA's in 2023.
Before that, the Golden Eagles won three consecutive tournament titles from 2021 through 2023. Cal Poly Pomona reached the championship match in both 2023 and 2024, with each final decided by penalty kicks.
This year's return to Pomona also recalls the Broncos' 2015 championship, when Cal Poly Pomona defeated Stanislaus State 2-0 in the final on its home field.
Sunday's matchups
Two noon kickoffs will open the tournament, with No. 5 Menlo visiting No. 4 Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside and No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona traveling to No. 3 Cal State San Marcos.
The Broncos-Cougars matchup features two programs with recent championship-match experience, while the Oaks will test an Otters team that has remained unbeaten at home.
At 1 p.m., No. 7 UC Merced will take on No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino. The winner will advance to Friday's evening semifinal against either Cal State San Marcos or Cal Poly Pomona.

Meet the field
No. 1 Cal State LA Golden Eagles
Cal State LA brings an unbeaten 15-0-2 overall record into the postseason after winning the regular-season championship with a 10-0-2 conference mark and 32 points. Defense has set the Golden Eagles apart: LA leads NCAA Division II in goals-against average (0.294), save percentage (.891) and shutout percentage (.706). The Golden Eagles went 9-0 at home and 6-0-2 on the road, closing the regular season with consecutive victories. With the tournament's lone first-round bye secured, LA needs two victories at Kellogg Stadium to add another tournament championship to its recent collection.
No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes
Cal State San Bernardino earned the second seed with an 8-3-1 conference record and enters the tournament at 12-3-3 overall. The Coyotes combine one of the country's stingiest defenses with an attack that consistently creates opportunities, ranking 20th nationally in goals-against average (0.778), 13th in shots per match (16.33) and 18th in assists per match (2.06). San Bernardino will host UC Merced on Sunday, seeking a return to the semifinals after falling to Cal State San Marcos in a penalty-kick shootout in last year's opening round.
No. 3 Cal State San Marcos Cougars
Last season's tournament runner-up returns with an 11-5-1 overall record and three consecutive victories. Cal State San Marcos finished 8-4 in conference play behind an offense that ranks second in the CCAA and 19th nationally with 2.29 goals per match. Cisco Avila shares the conference lead and is tied for 18th nationally with 11 goals, while Matthew Ibarra leads the CCAA and is tied for fifth nationally with five game-winning goals. The Cougars will open at home against Cal Poly Pomona after demonstrating the possibilities of a first-round start in 2025, when they advanced as the No. 5 seed to the championship match.
No. 4 Cal State Monterey Bay Otters
Cal State Monterey Bay enters at 11-3-3 overall after a 7-2-3 conference campaign. The Otters lead the CCAA in scoring offense, ranking 18th nationally with 2.35 goals per match, and in assists per match, ranking seventh nationally at 2.29. Philip Wolny has helped drive that production with eight assists, sharing the conference lead and tying for 15th nationally. Monterey Bay's 7-0-1 home record gives it an encouraging backdrop for Sunday's matchup with Menlo in Seaside. A victory would send the Otters to a semifinal meeting with top-seeded Cal State LA.
No. 5 Menlo Oaks
Menlo heads into the tournament with consecutive victories, an 8-6-3 overall record and a 6-4-2 conference mark. The Oaks rank second in the CCAA and 14th nationally with 6.12 corner kicks per match, providing a steady source of attacking opportunities. Tim Schwarz leads Menlo with eight goals and 20 points. The Oaks will travel to Cal State Monterey Bay for their opening match, looking to build on a 3-3-1 road record and hand the Otters their first home loss.
No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona Broncos
Cal Poly Pomona opens its championship pursuit on the road despite serving as host for the semifinals and final. The Broncos finished 7-5-5 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play, with Marvin Gamez leading the attack. Gamez shares the CCAA lead and is tied for 18th nationally with 11 goals, leads the conference with 24 points, and is tied for 11th nationally with four game-winning goals. After reaching the tournament final in 2023 and 2024, Pomona must first get past Cal State San Marcos to earn the opportunity to compete for another title at Kellogg Stadium.
No. 7 UC Merced Bobcats
UC Merced rounds out the expanded field after finishing 6-6 in conference play and 7-6-3 overall. The Bobcats rank fifth in the CCAA with 1.63 assists per match, with Christian Khanishian tied for fourth among conference players with six assists. Merced earned four of its seven victories away from home, bringing experience winning on the road into Sunday's first-round assignment at second-seeded Cal State San Bernardino.
