A Legendary Run: Coach Kim Sutton Announces Final Season With Wildcats

Aug 29, 2025

Dear Wildcats,

After 40 years in the game I love, and 25 incredible seasons at Chico State, I will be retiring following the conclusion of the Fall 2025 women's soccer season.

Coaching has been one of the great privileges of my life.  It has been an honor to serve as head coach of this program, to work alongside dedicated colleagues, assistant coaches and most importantly, to guide and learn from the extraordinary student-athletes who have worn the Wildcats jersey. Watching them grow not only as players, but as leaders, teammates, and people has been the most rewarding part of this journey. The countless moments of joy and laughter on and off the field I will cherish forever.

Chico State has been more than just a place to coach—it has been a community, a family, and a home. I am deeply grateful to the University, our athletic department, alumni, fans and the Wildcat community for their unwavering support over the years.

While it is bittersweet to step away, I do so with immense pride in what we have built together, and with excitement for the future of the program. I look forward to cheering on the Wildcats from the other side of the touchline and to spending more time with family and friends who have supported me every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this remarkable journey. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
