CSUSB and CSUEB finish top 15 at the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf National Championships

PALM BEACH GARDEN, Fla. - Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State East Bay earned top 15 national finishes at the 2025 NCAA Div. II Men's Golf Championship.
 
The Coyotes placed 13th over three rounds at the PGA National Resorts Course with a 22-over 886, and the Pioneers tied for 14th (891, +27). Sonoma State's individual, Cambron Nevill, placed 94th (236, +20).
 
Both teams had tough first rounds before settling in and playing better on the final two days.
 
John Kim led CSUSB and all CCAA golfers in the field with a 4-under 212. He was at even-par coming into the third round, and shot a 68 (-4) to move 12 places up the team leaderboard. His six birdies were only one short of his total in rounds one and two. Tyler Price and Kamron Hopson each posted a 73 (+1) on Wednesday to help CSUSB climb the leaderboard. The Coyotes were the only unranked team to finish in the top 15.
 
Easton Hether's 11th-place finish paced Cal State East Bay. The junior golfer posted scores of 73 (+1), 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) over the three days to finish with a 214 (-2). He was one of only 18 golfers to register a score under par in the NCAA Championships. Adam Brangefalt matched Hether with a 71 (-1) in the final round. That score moved him up 21 spots on the final leaderboard.
 
Cambron Nevill also had his best round on day three. He posted a 73 (+1) and finished with a 236 (+20). He was the lone CCAA student-athlete to qualify as an individual.
 
North Georgia's Hunter Smith won the NCAA Individual Championship by one stroke with a 210 (-6). He edged Florida Southern's Colton Swartz and Lee's Drew Zielinski for the title.
 
No. 1-ranked Colorado Christian made a third-round comeback to win the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships by two strokes over West Florida. The top eight teams will now advance to match medal play to determine the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf Team Champion. Match medal play will start on Thursday, May 22.
