ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - With the winter sports season coming to a close, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced the updated Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup Standings.
Cal Poly Pomona leads the way with 72.03 points, followed by
Chico State with 63.25 points. Less than 1.5 points separated third through fifth place.
Stanislaus State holds the third spot with 49.15 points.
Cal State LA and
Cal State Dominguez Hills are within .57 points of each other at 48.39 and 47.82 points, respectively.

Cal State San Bernardino sits in sixth with 45.03 points, and
Cal State East Bay is seventh with 41.88 points.
Cal Poly Humboldt (36.76) edged out
Sonoma State (36.22) by just over half a point to claim the eighth spot in the standings.
Cal State San Marcos (34.88),
Cal State Monterey Bay (29.72), and
San Francisco State (26.83) complete the list.
Cal Poly Pomona expanded its seven-point lead from the fall standings to just under nine points in the latest update. No Broncos' team has finished below fourth place, and they have already collected three CCAA regular-season championships and a tournament title. The women's soccer team claimed the CCAA conference title before claiming a bonus point by winning the 2024 CCAA Tournament. The volleyball team also won the regular season title outright. The men's soccer team was co-champion along with Cal State Dominguez Hills. The men's cross country team placed second, and the women's team finished third. In basketball, the women's team placed second in the standings and the men finished tied for fourth.
Chico State moved up one place in the standings to second place (63.25). The Wildcats added to a strong fall season by having both the men's and women's basketball teams finish in the top 3. During the fall, the cross country teams led the way, with both teams claiming the CCAA Championship. The men's soccer team also tied for third in the standings.
Stanislaus State remained in the top 3 with 49.15 points. The Warriors had a quality fall sports season with four teams placing in the top 4 spots in the standings. The volleyball team highlighted the fall performances by winning the CCAA Tournament. The women's cross country team finished second, and the men's team placed third. The women's soccer team finished in fourth place.
Cal State LA claimed fourth place with 48.39 points. The Golden Eagles have qualified for the CCAA Tournament in five sports this season, and each is being factored into the Hiegart Cup standings. The women's soccer team led the way with a third-place finish. The men's soccer team tied for third and the volleyball team placed fourth. The women's basketball team tied for fifth and the men's team placed sixth.
Cal State Dominguez Hills saw the most significant rise in the standings thanks to both of its basketball teams claiming the regular-season and tournament championships. The Toros climbed six spots in the standings, from 11th to fifth. The men's and women's basketball teams each claimed a total of 14 points, bringing CSUDH to 47.82 on the season. The Toros also claimed the regular season and tournament titles in men's soccer.
Cal State San Bernardino also moved up in the standings from the fall, going from eighth to sixth place. The Coyotes enjoyed a successful basketball season with the men's team finishing third and the women's team fourth. The volleyball team also tied for fourth.
Cal State East Bay earned CCAA postseason bids in volleyball, men's soccer, and women's soccer, helping to accumulate 41.88 points. The women's soccer team's second-place finish marks the top achievement for the Pioneers thus far in the 2024-25 season. The men's soccer and volleyball teams each placed sixth in the standings, as did the men's cross country team.
Cal Poly Humboldt moved up two places in the standings in part to a fourth-place finish by the men's basketball team. The Lumberjacks sit with 36.76 points, just 0.54 points ahead of
Sonoma State.
Cal State San Marcos (34.88),
Cal State Monterey Bay (29.72), and
San Francisco State (26.83) round out the 2024-25 Hiegert Cup Standings winter update.
An institution's Hiegert Cup ranking is calculated using its top two conference finishes in the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons and the next two highest finishes (aka Flex Sports), regardless of the season. The specific number of points garnered per sport is determined by the number of institutions sponsoring the sport. This fall update includes the institution's top two finishes and two flex sports.
The winner of the 2024-25 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup will be announced at the executive council meeting in June.
Chico State won the 2023-24 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup with 89.15 points.
