The CCAA dominated the first NCAA Men's Golf Regional rankings. Seven of the top nine spots in the West Region were claimed by teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), including Cal State East Bay, which holds the No. 1 spot.
Cal State Monterey Bay was right behind the Pioneers, coming in at No. 2. Simon Fraser, from the GNAC, occupied the No. 3 spot, followed by the next four places in the rankings, all of which were held by CCAA teams. Sonoma State was listed at No. 4, with Stanislaus State coming in at No. 5. Chico State earned the sixth spot in the rankings, and Cal State San Marcos sits at No. 7. Cal State San Bernardino stands at No. 9, completing the list for the CCAA.

The seven ranked teams represent all but one CCAA school sponsoring men's golf. Last season, the CCAA put seven teams into the 20-team NCAA South Central/West Regional. It earned seven of the 10 bids from the West Region.
Twenty teams will advance to the NCAA South Central/West Regional on May 9-11 at the Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif. The NCAA will reveal those teams on April 28. From there, qualifying teams and select individuals will advance to the NCAA Championship, taking place from May 19-23 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
