Sonoma State’s Michael Panichi honored with the FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week award

Sonoma State’s Michael Panichi was selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 24-30. 

The junior left-hander was a force on the mound for the Seawolves in their 4-0, seven-inning victory over Cal State LA in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Panichi pitched the full seven innings, faced 27 batters, allowing only three hits. Panichi finished the seven-inning complete game with nine strikeouts and three walks. 

Panichi is tied for seventh in the CCAA with 36 strikeouts. He leads SSU with eight starts and has the Seawolves’ lone shutout on the season. Click here to see the CCAA baseball stats leaders

Panichi is the first Somona State student-athlete to receive a baseball pitcher or player of the week award in 2025. He is also the first Seawolves’ pitcher to earn a CCAA weekly honor since Tanner Fonoti in 2023. Click here to see the complete list of weekly award winners.
