Cal Poly Pomona’s Brent Cota captures FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Player of the Week

Cal Poly Pomona’s Brent Cota has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Player of the Week after hitting .571 in the opening weekend of conference play. (Feb. 24)

The senior center fielder went 8-for-14 with a double, a triple, three RBI, a stolen base, and five runs scored. His efforts helped lead Cal Poly Pomona to a series victory over No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay. 

Cota opened the four-game series by going 3-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and two runs scored. He would add hits in each of the next two games before capping off the series with a three-hit, three-run performance in an 11-10 win. 

The Rancho Cucamonga native is hitting .364 with a .918 OPS on the season. His .463 on-base percentage leads the Broncos. Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders

The Broncos will go on the road this week to face Chico State on Feb. 28-Mar. 2.
