SEASIDE, Calif. - Nicole Beauchemin played the hero for Cal Poly Humboldt in the semifinals of the 2025 CCAA Women's Soccer Tournament presented by Flocollege. She scored the only goal on a free kick in the 54th minute to lift the No. 5 seed over the No. 1 seed Cal Poly Pomona with a 1-0 win.

Cal Poly Humboldt came ready to play for the full 90 minutes and hung at each stage of the match with the defending national champion Broncos.

The Lumberjacks had some opportunities in the first half, including hitting the post with the keeper off her line, but it remained scoreless at halftime. Carson Thomson-Terrel made two big saves in the half to keep the Broncos off the board.

The best opportunity would come for Humboldt nine minutes into the second half when their student-athlete was fouled right outside the 18-yard box. Beauchemin and Alexis Blue both lined up for the shot, but it was Beauchemin who fired it perfectly over the five-defender wall into the top corner of the net.

Cal Poly Pomona tried to find the equalizer, and had one ball hit the crossbar and another went just wide. CPP would outshoot Humboldt in the contest 11-6 and led in corner kicks 5-0.

Thomson-Terrel had two saves for the Lumberjacks, and Ariana Beddoes added one. Jenna Tetrault made one stop for the Broncos.

Cal Poly Humboldt will now face Chico State in the CCAA Tournament Championship match on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m.

Chico State head coach Kim Sutton has already announced her retirement after 25 years of leading the Wildcats. Her previous stop was Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State), where she coached for six seasons (1995-00).
