It is a legendary feat in baseball: homering four times in one game. It’s the offensive equalization of a perfect game, and San Francisco State’s Justin Johnson accomplished that feat and more on his way to earning CCAA Player of the Week honors (April 29-May 5).

Johnson homered four times in the second game of the series against Cal State Dominguez Hills to celebrate the Gators’ clinching of a CCAA postseason berth the night before. In the legendary game, the senior from Sacramento went 5-for-6, with four home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored.

Over the four-game series, in which the Gators won 3-1, Johnson hit .611 (10-for-18) with two doubles, a triple, four home runs, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored. He finished with a .667 on-base percentage and a 2.167 OPS. He had hits and RBI in all four games while helping turn five double plays.

Since 2001, only four CCAA student-athletes hit four home runs in a game, and it had not happened since 2010 (Douglas Porras, Stan State vs. CSUDH).

His performance throughout the weekend helped Johsnon finish as the CCAA regular-season RBI leader (65) and rank second in home runs (14). Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders

This is Johnson's first career CCAA Player of the Week honor and the second for SF State this season (Anthony Alvarez, Feb. 12). Click here to see the complete list of weekly award winners.
