Garet Crenshaw of Cal State Dominguez Hills was an offensive juggernaut as he has been named the CCAA Baseball Player of the Week, for the week of April 1-7.
Crenshaw batted .533, going 8 for 15, with four home runs, three doubles and drove in 13 runs. He scored seven times and walked four times in the four-game series versus conference leader Cal State Monterey Bay. For the weekend, Crenshaw posted 1.533 slugging and .600 on-base percentages for an OPS of 2.133.
The senior from Fullerton, Calif., had two two-dinger games as the Toros scored 53 runs in the series to take the set, 3 games to 1 over the Otters. Crenshaw homered twice in game one on Friday in a 18-12 slug-fest. He hit bombs in back-to-back at bats in the third and fourth innings with the latter a 3-run shot to give CSUDH a 12-5 lead. He would hit two more homers in Saturday’s second game, again in consecutive at-bats, in the first and third innings. Both times tying the game, which CSUDH eventually won 12-8.
Crenshaw has hit all seven of his home runs during CCAA games, putting him tied for third most in the league.
