CSUMB’s Nico Hartojo selected as CCAA Baseball Player of the Week after hitting .714

Cal State Monterey Bay’s Nico Hartojo has been selected as CCAA Baseball Player of the Week after putting up video game-like numbers.

Hartojo slashed .714/.684/1.357 for an impressive 2.041 OPS to lead the Otters to a four-game series sweep over Stanislaus State. He went 10-for-14 ,with three doubles and two home runs, drove in 11 runs, and scored six times to lead the powerful CSUMB offense. Hartojo also walked once without striking out, was hit by a pitch twice and had two sacrifice flies.

The senior second baseman from Arvada, Colo., had three three-hit games during the series. After opening the series with a 3-for-4 game on Friday, Hartojo was 4-for-6 with six RBI, a double and two homers in Saturday’s doubleheader. He went 3-for-3 with a two-run dinger in the first game and followed it with another two-run shot in the nightcap.

Hartojo, a preseason All-American pick, had struggled at the plate to start the season but has gone 13-for his last 17 at bats to improve his batting average by 155 points to .350.
