CSUEB’s Gabe Tanner snags CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week award after complete game gem

Cal State East Bay’s Gabe Tanner threw a gem to earn this week’s CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week award, for the week of March 4-10.

Tanner went the distance in a nine-inning game at Cal Poly Pomona, leading the Pioneers over the Broncos, 7-2, to open the series Friday night. He allowed just two runs on seven hits (six singles and a double) with seven strikeouts. He did not issue a walk or hit a batter. 

After giving up two runs in the fourth inning, the junior from Danville faced the minimum of 15 batters the rest of the game. He retired 10 consecutive batters and allowed just a single in the eighth with the runner erased on a double-play.

Tanner improved to 5-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.06. He leads the CCAA in opponent’s batting average (.189), wins (5), and is second in ERA (2.06). Click here to see CCAA baseball stats leaders.
