Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Trey Winget named CCAA Baseball Player of the Week

Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Trey Winget slugged his way to this week’s CCAA Baseball Player of the Week award, for the week of Feb. 19-25.

Winget batted .500 and belted three dingers in leading the Toros’ offense as CSUDH outscored Stanislaus State 33-13 to win the series three games to one. Winget posted a 1.917 OPS with a 1.250 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage.

To start the series on Friday, the junior outfielder from St. George, Utah, went 2-for-3 with two homers from the No. 9 slot in the batting order. He drove in three runs and scored three times en route to helping CSUDH to a 10-2 win. After going 0-for-4 in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, Winget was 2-for-2 with another bomb in the team’s 14-4 win. He also had two hits in the series finale, won by the Warriors, 5-4.

For the week, Winget was 6-for-12 with five RBI, scored three times, walked three times, was hit by a pitch three times and stole two bases.
