Matthew Piotrowski of Cal State LA had a stellar week at the plate as he was voted as CCAA Baseball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-18.
Piotrowski batted .588 (10 for 17) in 19 plate appearances as the Golden Eagles went 4-0 on the week. Cal State LA beat Azusa Pacific and swept a three-game series against La Sierra. The Golden Eagles outscored opponents 58-12.
The senior first baseman from Lancaster posted 1.000 slugging and .579 on-base percentages. Piotrowski drove in nine runs and scored seven with two homers and a double. During the 10-1 win at APU, he went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, drove in five runs and scored twice. In the three-game set versus La Sierra, Piotrowski was 8-for-13. He doubled and homered in game one of the series.
So far this season, Piotrowski is batting .425 with a 1.154 OPS. This is his second career CCAA Player of the Week award.
