Cal State East Bay women's basketball student-athlete
Delia Moore capped off her outstanding four-year career by being voted the 2022-23 CCAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The award is voted on and selected by the Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) from the Conference's 12-member institutions, focusing on a student-athlete's work in the classroom, the community, and their respective sport.

Moore graduated from Cal State East Bay in spring 2023 Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Kinesiology and Psychology. This marks the third straight season a Pioneer has been named male or female CCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
"Over my fifteen years serving as our Faculty Athletics Representative, I've had the distinct pleasure to nominate several extraordinary Cal State East Bay student-athletes who received the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award," said Cal State East Bay's former FAR Dr. David Larson. "Delia Moore stands front and center within this outstanding group.
"We have never had a Pioneer who more completely embodies the term "scholar-athlete," Larson continued. "A Summa Cum Laude double major, an integral member of her team for all four years, and an indefatigable contributor to SAAC for her entire undergraduate career. I feel especially privileged to have known her, supported her, and nominated her for this prestigious award."

On the court, Moore has been a standout student-athlete for one of the conference's best teams. She earned second team All-CCAA honors each of the last two seasons, averaging 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals. She was named to the 2022 CCAA All-Tournament team when the guard helped lead CSUEB to the CCAA Tournament Championship and the right to host the 2022 NCAA West Regional. Moore finished her career ranked seventh in Pioneers' history in points and assists.
The accolades for Moore extended beyond the court to the classroom, where she was recognized for her outstanding work while earning a pair of Bachelor's degrees in Art and Science. In 2019-20 and 2021-22, Moore was recognized at the CCAA Basketball Championships with the conference's Elite 13 Award for achieving the highest academic standard among her peers participating in the championships. The Merced native was also a five-time CCAA All-Academic selection and earned two Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Awards for distinguishing herself in the classroom and her sport. In addition, Moore also earned CSUEB's Dean List honors every semester and was a four-year member of CSUEB's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
This was the fifth CCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year overall for Cal State East Bay in the last six years. Brandi Brucato (volleyball) earned the honor in 2017-18, and Kathy McKiernan (volleyball) followed in 2018-19. Moore's teammate Madison Schiller collected the award in 2020-21, and baseball student-athlete Mark Woinarowicz won last season.
