Cal State Monterey Bay is heading to the CCAA Baseball Tournament championship game for the first time since 2019 after earning a 4-3 win over Cal State San Bernardino. (May 12)

The Otters overcame a 2-1 deficit with a three-run fifth inning and then leaned on their bullpen to complete the game. With one out and runners at first and third, Drew Williams hit a fly ball the opposite way down the left-field line. The outfielder raced after it and made a dive, but the ball landed just inside the line and bounced to the wall. Both runners came in to score, and Williams ended up at third base with a triple. Nico Hartojo would bring him in three pitches later when he lined a ball to center.

With the lead in hand after the fifth inning, coach Walt White went to his bullpen. Ryan Io was touched for one earned run but handed the ball to Colby Harrison in the seventh with a 4-3 lead. Harrison threw two innings of scoreless ball, allowing just one hit to bridge the gap to the closer. Chris Tonna threw a perfect ninth inning to earn his eighth save of the season and send CSUMB to the championships.

Williams and Hartojo each drove in two RBI for Cal State Monterey Bay, which outhit CSUSB 10-7. KW Quilici led the Otters with three hits (all singles). Giovanni Del Negro, Deshawn Johnson, and Jake Borst all recorded multi-hit games for the Yotes.

Nate Rohlicek earned the win and improved to 7-0. He went five innings allowing five hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out seven.

Cal State Monterey Bay will play the winner of Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona in tomorrow's championship game. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
