Noel Soto put together the most dominant pitching performance thus far at the 2023 CCAA Baseball Tournament to lead Cal Poly Pomona to a 10-1 win in an elimination game against Stanislaus State.

Soto went all nine innings on just 100 pitches. He allowed five hits, including a solo home run, to account for the Warriors' only run of the game. The Lakewood native struck out a season-high eight and did not walk a batter. Soto finished the game in just over two hours and improved to 4-3.

The Broncos gave their senior right-hander some early runs to work with as they put up two-spots in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Marco Malerba knocked in three runs for CPP with an RBI groundout in the first and a two-run homer in the third. Nin Burns II reached base three times and scored three runs. He went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases. Nick Lugo led all players with three hits. Ben Lee and Brent Cota also recorded multi-hit games.

Alex Solis' solo home run provided the only run for the Warriors. It was his second home run and third extra-base hit of the day.

Cal Poly Pomona will advance in the elimination portion of the bracket and will face the loser of Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, May 12, at 3:30 p.m.
