Caleb Reyes threw another gem to lead Cal Poly Pomona, earning him his second CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week nod.

Reyes tossed eight shutout innings and gave up just two singles to dominate against Cal State Dominguez Hills in the Broncos’ 5-3 win in Saturday’s first game of the doubleheader.

The senior righthander struck out seven and walked just one to improve his personal record to 3-1. Reyes allowed just a harmless two-out single in the second inning and yielded a single in the seventh where the base runner was quickly erased on a double play to end the inning. In between the two hits, Reyes retired 17 of the 18 batters, allowing just a walk in the fourth.

Reyes was the pitcher of the week on March 6 after seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts against Cal State East Bay. He leads the CCAA with a 1.16 ERA and .135 opponents batting average. He has allowed a CCAA low 18 hits and five runs and his 38 strikeouts total is sixth best in the conference.

Cal Poly Pomona (18-11, 10-9 CCAA) is fifth in the standings heading into this week as the Broncos host Cal State LA.
