Dylan O’Connor turned in another dominant performance to lead CSUSB en route to his second CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week award.

O’Connor threw a 7-inning complete game shutout to lead the No. 7 Yotes over Cal State East Bay on Saturday, helping CSUSB to a 3-1 series win. CSUSB also won earlier for a four-win week to improve to 27-9 overall, 18-8 CCAA.

The junior right-hander allowed just three singles in his latest outing. O’Connor, who is from Tacoma, Wash., sat the first eight batters in order to start the game. After allowing two singles in the fourth, an error loaded the bases but he got a pop-up and a double play grounder to get out of the jam. O’Connor then cruised the rest of the way, retiring the final nine of 10 batters (only base runner was a walk) for the win.

O’Connor fanned nine and walked just one in his latest outing as he continues to lead the CCAA in strikeouts (61). His has yielded the third lowest opponents batting average of .194. He shares the lead in innings (54.2) and is tied for second with five wins.

Cal State San Bernardino is second in the CCAA standings and hosts leader No. 19 Cal State Monterey Bay (22-9, 20-4 CCAA) this week. CSUMB has won a program-record 12 consecutive games.
