Mitchell Torres continues to dominate as a Sunday starter as the Otter southpaw has been selected as the CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

In CSUMB 4-1 win over Cal State East Bay, Torres threw seven shutout innings and allowed just five hits. He struck out four and walked two batters to post his third win in his last four starts.

Torres, a sophomore from Santa Clarita, retired 11 of 13 batters during a stretch in the game after getting out of a second-inning jam.

Torres is the third, and the second consecutive, CSUMB pitcher to win the Pitcher of the Week award this season. Torres leads the Otters rotation with a 2.48 ERA, which is also third best in the CCAA.

Cal State Monterey Bay extended its winning-streak to eight games to remain atop of the CCAA standings at 16-4 (18-9 overall). The Otters host Chico State for a four-game set starting on Thursday.
