Matthew Piotrowski of Cal State LA is Player of the Week after hitting three HRs in one game

Matthew Piotrowski of Cal State LA smashed four home runs, including three in one game, en route to being named as the CCAA Baseball Player of the Week, for the week of March 13-19.

Piotrowski batted .563, going 9-for-16, in the four games against Cal State San Marcos. He had a triple with four home runs to post a 1.438 slugging percentage while reaching base 52.9 percent of the time for an impressive OPS of 1.967. He drove in 12 runs and scored five times.

The senior third baseman from Lancaster had a monstrous game in the second game on Saturday, going 4-for-4 with a triple and three homers. He drove in five runs and scored three times. His 15 total bases are second all-time for a single game in Cal State LA’s program history. Piotrowski became just the fifth Golden Eagle to hit three home runs in a game. Earlier on Saturday, he drove in two runs for a 7 RBI day. He also had five RBI in the opener on Friday on just one hit. He drove in runs with a sac fly, a grounder and a three-run blast.

Piotrowski is currently leading the CCAA with a .833 slugging percentage. He is second in batting (.444) and fourth in hits (32) and RBI (29).

Cal State LA visits Stanislaus State in Turlock for a four-game set this weekend.
