Cal State San Bernardino’s Dylan O’Connor threw a complete game shutout to be selected as the CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week, for the week of March 6-12.

O’Connor pitched a seven-inning gem at Stanislaus State on Sunday, allowing just two hits and fanned nine in the complete-game shutout victory. The outing helped lead the fifth-ranked Yotes to a Sunday doubleheader sweep and a 2-1 series lead heading into Monday’s finale.

After getting out of a jam in the second inning with two runners on base, the junior from Tacoma, Wash., cruised the rest of the way. O’Connor allowed just a single in the third and a walk in the sixth with the runner erased on a double play. He faced the minimum number of batters to end the game after allowing that one-out single in the third. O’Connor retired nine consecutive batters before the sixth inning walk.

O’Connor, who improved to 4-0, currently ranks first in the CCAA with 38 strikeouts.

The Yotes and Stanislaus State will complete the four-game set Monday at Noon after the series was shifted a day due to weather. CSUSB returns home to host San Francisco State this weekend.
