Cal Poly Pomona won the 2022 CCAA Championship and brought the track & field title back to Pomona for the first time since 1998. CCAA coaches expect a repeat in 2023 as the Broncos were selected as the favorites in the women's track & field preseason poll.

CPP earned 141 points and nine of the 12 first-place votes to edge Chico State for the top spot in the preseason poll. The Wildcats earned the remaining three first-place votes and finished with 135 points.
Cal State San Marcos was the only other team to earn over a hundred points in the poll. The Cougars finished with 115 points to earn third place.
The voting was much tighter for the following positions, with four teams finishing within six points. Cal State LA was this group's top team, placing fourth overall with 87 points. Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Humboldt tied for fifth with 82 points. Stanislaus State was right behind with 81 points.
San Francisco State placed eighth with 71 points. Sonoma State (44), Cal State Monterey Bay (38), Cal State East Bay (36), and Cal State Dominguez Hills (24) rounded out the list.
The 2023 track & field season is now in full swing, with many teams competing this weekend. Cal State San Marcos will host the CCAA Championships on May 4-6.
