Home run leader Kyle Csakan of CSUSB wins second CCAA Baseball Player of the Week award

For the second time in three weeks, Kyle Csakan has led the surging Yotes offensively, earning him this week’s CCAA Baseball Player of the Week. This time for the week of April 25-May 1.

Csakan went 9-for-15 (.600) with two doubles and two home runs to lead CSUSB to a 3-1 series win over Cal State East Bay. The wins helped the Yotes’ earned a berth to the CCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.

The slugger from Corona, broke a 31-year old CSUSB record in home runs (20) with his second of the series on Saturday. The senior third baseman slashed 1.133 slugging percentage with an on base percentage of .684. He was hit by a pitch three times and walked once against CSUEB.

Csakan also drove in five runs, scored seven times and stole a base during the Yotes’ final home series.

Csakan leads the CCAA in slugging (.844), OPS (1.281), home runs (20) and is second in RBI (53).

CSUSB (25-21 overall, 21-15 CCAA), now in fourth place in the CCAA, hit the road to take on Sonoma State this week for the final series of the regular season.
