Cal State Monterey Bay 6, Western Oregon 3
Jason Ajamian's three-run blast in the sixth inning gave the Otters the lead for good, and Ethan McRae went eight innings to lead the No. 3 seed Cal State Monterey Bay to a 6-3 win over No. 6 Western Oregon in the first round of the NCAA West Regional.

Ajamian gave Cal State Monterey Bay the early lead with an RBI single in the first. Western Oregon tacked on single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings to take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the inning. The first two batters of the inning singled before Amajian took a 3-2 pitch over the left-field wall. Hunter Harris singled in Jacob Martin later in the inning as an insurance run.

McRae was even better with the lead as he allowed just one hit over the next two innings. He finished the game by retiring the final six batters that he faced. Northwest Nazarene 10, Cal Poly Pomona 7
Cal Poly Pomona built a 6-2 lead, and it had its ace on the mound, but Northwest Nazarene continued to chip away at the lead and earned a 10-7 victory in the first round of the NCAA West Regional.

The Crusaders had a solo home run in the fourth and scored two more in the sixth to knock CCAA Pitcher of the Year, Will Rudy, out of the game, and that is when their bats came alive.

Against the relief pitcher, the Nighthawks hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the seventh to erase the deficit and take a 7-6 lead. An RBI single by Ryan Dearing extended the lead to 8-6 after seven innings.

Tyler Chaffee tried to rally the Broncos' bats as he homered to lead off the eighth inning. The next two batters for Cal Poly Pomona reached, bringing the top of the lineup to the plate with no out. Blake McFadden was able to work out of the jam without yielding a run. NNU tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth before Max Holtzclaw took over with one out in the ninth and retired both batters he faced to lock down the win for Northwest Nazarene.

Cal Poly Pomona was outhit in the game 15-9, and the Crusaders drew three more walks (5-2). Joseph Ihli earned the win as he entered the game in the fourth inning and allowed only one hit and one walk over four innings of work.

Point Loma 7, Cal Poly Pomona 2
Cal Poly Pomona's season ended on the first day of the 2022 NCAA West Regional. After sweeping through the CCAA Baseball Tournament and carrying an eight-game winning streak into the regional, the Broncos dropped two games on Thursday to end their season at 35-19.

No. 1 seed Point Loma ended the Broncos' season with a 7-2 loss in the nightcap. Cal Poly Pomona put the first run on the board in the top of the fourth, but PLNU quickly answered with a game-tying single by Baxter Halligan right before Hunter Otjen sent a three-run homer over the right-field wall.

A Ryon Knowles double in the fifth cut the Sea Lions' lead to 4-2, but the Broncos would get no closer as Point Loma added on three runs in the sixth, capped off by a two-run shot from Jack Malone.

Point Loma benefited from six walks by the Broncos. Meanwhile, CPP was given no free passes.
