With five home runs in the series, Cal State San Bernardino’s Kyle Csakan has been selected the Baseball Player of the Week, for the week of April 11-17.

Csakan belted at least one home run in each game of the series against Chico State as the Coyotes earned a split against the Wildcats in San Bernardino. Csakan hit .375 with a slugging percentage of 1.313. The senior from Corona was 6-for-16, drove in 10 runs and scored five times.

The outfielder/first baseman started the series with a homer in the seventh on Friday. His second homer came in the ninth inning of game one on Saturday in losing effect. However, his two-run homer in the first inning of Saturday’s nightcap gave CSUSB a lead the Coyotes didn’t relinquish. In fact, he hit a bomb in consecutive at-bats in that game. His three-run shot in the third gave CSUSB a 7-2 lead. Csakan would end his week with another dinger on Sunday, a solo shot to left-center.

Csakan leads the CCAA with 18 home runs. His 1.312 OPS and .875 slugging percentage are also best in the conference.

Cal State San Bernardino (21-16, 17-11 CCAA) is now fifth in the CCAA. The Coyotes travel to Seaside to face Cal State Monterey Bay.
