Doubles parade earns Cal Poly Pomona's Cesar Lopez CCAA Player of the Week award

Cal Poly Pomona’s Cesar Lopez was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of March 14-20.

Lopez led the Broncos to a four-game sweep of Cal State East Bay while hitting .667 with seven doubles, 12 RBI and five runs scored. He finished the series 10-for-15 with a .688 on base percentage and a 1.133 slugging percentage.

He recorded an extra base hit and at least one RBI in all four games. In the second game of the series he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI. In the finale, Lopez was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored.

The senior outfielder now third in NCAA Division II with 13 doubles. He is fourth in the CCAA with 28 RBI and 12th with a .377 batting average. 

With the sweep, Cal Poly Pomona moves into fifth place in the CCAA standings at 8-7. The Broncos will play a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 22 before continuing CCAA competition at Sonoma State on March 25.
